wedding anniversary and trip to Alkmaar
It’s our 11th wedding anniversary today! Yes… thank you! *bows* 
We’re not doing anything special today, but tomorrow (my birthday) we have the day off and will go to the nearby zoo, the beautiful Gaiapark in Kerkrade.
Last weekend we finally went to Alkmaar, been on our list for a long time. My longtime friend and “sister” Angelique lives there with her boyfriend Michiel, and their 3 cats and we hadn’t visited them in many years (they were over here last year to get our screenprinting gear).
On our way up on Saturday, we briefly visited Marc, Brenda and the kids in Velsen-Noord, who will be leaving for Canada next month! We know them from the CBB (Dutch forum about emigration to Canada) and met them last year when we all had the same flights to and from Canada in October. After 28 months of waiting and setbacks, they finally received their (permanent) visa. In Velsen, it was easy to spot their house with the Canadian flag 
It was great seeing them again and being able to hug them one last time on Dutch soil before they fly to B.C. (we can’t make it to their little goodbye party in October). It was also great to see what those permanent visa look like! So that’s what all the fuss is about… BTW, we’re waiting for a workpermit and no permanent visa (yet), so that’s different.
Then we continued our trip to Alkmaar, to Angelique and Michiel’s place. They live close to the centre of the city, in a cute old house in a small street. We spent the rest of the day chilling and cuddling with their awesome cats: the old Omar, the slightly “challenged” Sinbad and the funny and cuddly Didi, who slept with me all night. The next day we slept in, cuddled with the cats some more , had breakfast outside, went into the city for some shopping and a coffee on a terrace. The weather was great, pretty sunny, only a bit too much wind. Back at their house, we had the pleasure of meeting Michiel’s brother Daan and friend/band-mate Isak (Onkt) with their respective families. We stayed at their place until early in the evening and after 2 hours and 40 minutes (we had one small traffic jam on the highway) we were back in Heerlen again. Thanks A & M for a great weekend! And uhm… cuddle the cats some more for us

trouwdag en uitje naar Alkmaar
Het is vandaag onze 11e trouwdag! Jep… dank je wel! *buigt*
We doen niks speciaals vandaag, maar morgen (mijn verjaardag) hebben we vrij en gaan we naar het dierpark in de buurt, het mooie Gaiapark in Kerkrade.
Afgelopen weekend zijn we eindelijk in Alkmaar geweest, dat stond al lang op ons lijstje. Mijn langjarige vriendin en “zusje” Angelique woont daar met haar vriend Michiel, en hun 3 katten en we hadden hen al vele jaren niet meer opgezocht (zij waren vorig jaar een keer bij ons om onze zeefdrukspullen te halen).
Op de weg heen op zaterdag, zijn we even bij Marc, Brenda en de kids in Velsen-Noord langsgeweest, die volgende maand naar Canada vertrekken! We kennen hen van het CBB (het forum voor emigratie naar Canada) en ontmoetten hen vorig jaar toen we in oktober dezelfde vluchten heen en terug naar Canada hadden. Na 28 maanden wachten en tegenslagen hebben ze nu eindelijk hun (permanente) visa! In Velsen was het makkelijk hun huis te vinden met de Canadese vlag Het was te gek ze nog een keer op Nederlandse bodem te zien en te omhelzen voor ze naar B.C. vliegen (we kunnen niet naar hun afscheidsborrel in oktober). Het was ook leuk te zien hoe die visa er nu uitzien! Dus daar maken ze zich allemaal zo druk om… trouwens, wij wachten op een werkvergunning en (nog) geen permanente visa, dus da’s anders.
Toen gingen we verder naar Alkmaar, naar Angelique en Michiel’s huis. Ze wonen dicht bij het centrum van de stad, in een schattig oud huisje in een smalle straat. We brachten de rest van de dag door met chillen en het knuffelen van hun te gekke katten: de oude Omar, de mentaal wat “minder bedeelde” Sinbad en de grappige en knuffelige Didi, die de hele nacht bij me sliep. De volgende dag sliepen we uit, knuffelden nog wat met de katten , ontbeten buiten en gingen naar de stad voor wat inkopen en een koffie op een terrasje. Het weer was prima, best zonnig, alleen wat te veel wind. Terug in hun huis hadden we het genoegen Michiel’s broer Daan en vriend Isak (Onkt) met hun respectievelijke families te ontmoeten. We bleven er tot vroeg in de avond en na 2 uur en 40 minuten (we hadden een kleine file op de snelweg) waren we weer terug in Heerlen. Nogmaals bedankt A & M voor een te gek weekend! En ehm… knuffel de katten nog even voor ons!
