Bang Your Head
we survived BYH…
- I didn’t see the headliners, but I did see my favorites (the backproblems caused us to leave early on both days
- it was HOT (36°C/97°F) and that caused a very serious thunderstorm at night, 1000s of tents destroyed by flooding and storm, 500 people evacuated etc
- for the first time we had a hotel, and that was SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!! (we’re getting old
)
This BYH was quite different from the previous 5 years. I had some backproblems that caused me to leave early both days (in combination with the extreme heat on Friday, 36°C!), we had a hotel in Hechingen-Stein instead of camping next to the festival area and in the night a huge thunderstorm destroyed thousands of tents and 500 people were evacuated, some injured! For us this weekend turned out to be a sort of combination of the festival visit and a holiday. We’ve always enjoyed camping, but a good bed, a good breakfast and most of all good showers were things we really loved (and of course the protection from the thunderstorm)! More info in my live report……
Still, I met most of the people I wanted to see (I made pics with some), except my Brainstorm boys and our Californian friend Steve Smyth
Friday we left at 5.30pm and stayed in the hotel, had a great meal there on the terrace. Saturday we left around the same time and after a break and shower etc. we drove to Hechingen to eat something. On Sunday we thought about visiting the fairy-tale castle on that hill near Hechingen, but we had a long drive ahead of us in the heat, so we decided to hit the road instead (luckily, because it took us 7 hours to get home).
